May this missive find you well. Given what care you took to ensure my escape, I thought it only polite to inform you that I managed to find my way back out with ease, in no small part due to your 'fortuitous' timing. I should hope that none of your other friends found any trouble from the demons within? It seemed far too easy a trap for even the most astute to stumble into. I fear that any new building discovered to likely be just as cursed.
Please do take a care with your own steps as you did with mine. Your kindness is something to be admired, but I would worry for you to be taken advantage of in any way. Will you be gentle with your own comforts, I hope?
[ some time passes before a reply comes through. Dream had to ask Hob how to use ~technology~ and then he waited to reply in private. ]
Lady Vanessa,
Your reassurance is a welcome tiding. I expect that those you followed after also escaped easily under your guidance. It seems that those others I know here were also similarly caught, though, fortunately, none of them encountered any lasting effects from the event that transpired. Caution would be advisable for any future expeditions within this expanding City.
Not many who know of me would call my decisions and acts a kindness. It is unlikely that any here could take advantage of me, with regards to kindness or otherwise.
What comforts that may be found here, however, I suspect will be found through the kindness of others.
Regards, Morpheus
Post Script: While mortal food has never held much attraction for me, it would appear that the limitations placed on me since my arrival here dictate that I partake as the price of certain efforts. Simple tastes, when well-made or grown, are preferable, if this is also meant as an invitation.
[ It's nearly dawn when she finally responds. She is so embarrassed. She was supposed to wait for him to text, now she just looks awkward. Damn it, Ethan. ]
Forgive me, Lord Morpheus, I never intended to send a message so deficient as that. I was rather clumsy, you see.
[ it's a while before she gets a reply, Dream still unused to human devices demanding his attention with the notification sounds, not to mention the method of reply. but eventually, a reply does come, well into the night after the party. guess someone doesn't sleep, huh? ]
[ She watches her device with unusual anxiety. Is the long pause because he's upset or because he's older than dirt and doesn't know how to text? Could easily go either way. ]
It didn't exactly. He said something about not knowing what could keep someone like you here.
[ it takes him a while to reply, maybe 20 minutes, still getting the hang of mortal technology. he's not used to these little device things demanding his attention. ]
[ Too bad, this mortal is in dire need of assistance. He's all too happy to help him get the practice in but his text back is even slower, due to his mangled hands. ]
I didn't know who else to contact. You helped her before, I thought you might be able to help now.
Miss Ives found out what I was keeping from her, she was there after it happened and now I can't contact her.
Right. Dream of the Endless wasn't it? Got a quick question - don't need specifics, just a yes or no to two questions.
Do you know where Vanessa is and if she's alright? She's not answering her phone is all and someone's in a tizzy about it.
[He is hoping against hope that she's just having an extended romantic rendezvous with her beau and lost track of time and that something more sinister isn't afoot.]
[ this reply is slightly faster than to the message above this, reminded of the existence of notifications just earlier in the day. still probably glacially slow for Crowley's tastes, almost as bad as a certain angel. ]
I do not. I've neither seen nor heard from her in some while.
[ can Crowley feel the Displeasure™ emanating from that simple text? ]
I realize it has been longer than I had hoped, but I was wondering if you were still interested in doing some of your dream testing on me. My schedule is fairly open so if you have any free time upcoming, I would like to make some official plans.
Also, I’m unsure if he’s mentioned it already, but our mutual friend has offered to come along, which is something I would prefer. I am hoping that is something that will work for you, but please let me know either way.
Morpheus. Please abandon any suspicion, as this is Vanessa writing to you now. My telephone has gone missing, and a dear friend has allowed me to momentarily borrow his.
[ While Christmas isn't something she suspected one of the Endless to celebrate, of course, she is grateful for being humored when it's her first real holiday celebration in too many years. And it's her first real Christmas while being courted, so she is very much basking despite the melancholy cloud that has followed her all month.
He's already received a full three-piece suit with star cufflinks and matching shoes (just in case the City ever gets funny with his self-made clothes), a clementine to share, and a voucher for one "intimate" request—no questions asked. All while wearing this so you're welcome.
She has one more thing to give him—two, if her heartfelt words on paper count—but she's in no hurry to rush through the experience. ]
[ he sets the last item aside, the voucher set next to the clementine, his mild confusion followed by realization then followed by a hint of a smirk still lingering in his expression as he turns back to her. he extends his hand to her to invite her to sit on his knee. ]

If he insists on 'Lady', two can play that game. ]
Dear Master Morpheus,
It is indeed an invitation.
If you are still of a mind for the simple pleasures, please meet me at the address noted below at seven o'clock tonight.
Sincerely,
Vanessa Ives

You haven't told Hob about Burgess?

Before you ask, neither have I.

At present, I have no outstanding plans, though after the recent attacks and disappearances, I may be called upon a moment's notice.
